Lara Flynn Boyle was photographed out and about in Los Angeles, marking a rare public sighting for the typically private actress.

The Twin Peaks alum, 55, was spotted wearing athletic clothes and sandals while walking her rescue dog Shrimp on Sunday, June 15.

According to the Daily Mail, Boyle made her way around the Bel Air neighborhood early on Sunday morning, stopping to chat with a neighbor before heading back into her home.

Missing from the quick outing was Boyle's husband, Texas real estate developer Donald Ray Thomas, who she wed in 2006.

About Lara Flynn Boyle

After breaking out as high schooler Donna Hayward on Twin Peaks in 1990, Boyle starred in major films like Wayne's World and Men in Black II and later earned an Emmy nomination for her role as prosecutor Helen Gamble on ABC's legal drama The Practice.

Boyle has been candid about why she's been absent from the spotlight in recent years, opening up to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview in July 2024 about her days being followed by tabloids, which picked apart her thin frame and her former romance with Jack Nicholson, 88.

Despite the negative attention, Boyle said that she never felt discouraged when it came to acting.

"I never wanted to bow out. Any moment I was feeling down or sorry for myself, I made sure I did not complain," she told PEOPLE at the time. "My mom used to sometimes bring me articles about other actresses to show me I'm not the only one getting a raw deal."

The tabloid attention helped her secure one of her more recent starring roles. Writer-director Niclas Larsson would cast Boyle in Mother, Couch in 2024, marking Boyle's first movie in four years — although Boyle told PEOPLE that she didn't think of the role as her return to acting.

"You don't want an article to read, 'Boyle's Second Chance' or 'Look Who's Back,'" she said. "I'm right here."

Boyle also spoke to PEOPLE last year about her "lovely" relationship with her husband, sharing that outside of Bel Air, they keep a place in Texas and live there part-time.

"I have a lovely marriage," said Boyle, who met Thomas through a mutual friend at a party two decades ago. "We were together that night and ever since."

Boyle and Thomas spend time in Texas as well as Los Angeles, but they aren't always in the same city at the same time. She said they "don't go long" without seeing each other, but also don't have any hard rules about spending, say, more than two weeks apart.

"It's lovely," she told PEOPLE of her relationship, joking that she calls her husband "my urban cowboy."
