It's been 20 years since Christian Bale first donned the cape and cowl in Batman Begins, a film that kicked off a new era in superhero movies.

The Cast Then and Now

Christian Bale played Bruce Wayne/Batman. Since then, he has appeared in The Fighter, The Boy and the Heron, and is currently filming the John Madden biopic, Madden, with Nicolas Cage.
Michael Caine portrayed Alfred Pennyworth. He has since retired from acting, announcing his retirement in an October 2023 interview on BBC Radio 4's Today show.
Liam Neeson played Henri Ducard/Ra's al Ghul. He has since become an action hero in his own right, starring in the Taken movies, as well as Unknown, The Grey, and Non-Stop.
Katie Holmes played Rachel Dawes. She has since appeared in Mad Money, Ray Donovan, and played Jackie Kennedy in the 2011 TV mini-series The Kennedys and the 2017 sequel, The Kennedys After Camelot.
Gary Oldman played James Gordon. He has since starred in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
Cillian Murphy played Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow. He has since starred in Peaky Blinders, and won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Oppenheimer.
Tom Wilkinson played Carmine Falcone. He passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of 75.
Morgan Freeman played Lucius Fox. He has since appeared in The Bucket List, Invictus, and the Has Fallen trilogy.
Ken Watanabe played a decoy Ra's al Ghul. He has since starred in Letters From Iwo Jima, Inception, Godzilla, and the Max original series Tokyo Vice.
