Rod Stewart is showing no signs of slowing down at 80 years old. In an interview with AARP The Magazine, the legendary rocker revealed that he still has a lot of music to create.
"There's so much more music I want to create. I've got a covers album, a country album, and a Faces album all in the works. I just can't stop. Even when I'm spending time with my grandkids, my passion for music drives me. I feel like I've done everything I've ever wanted, but there's still more to come," Stewart said.
Rod Stewart's Upcoming Projects
Stewart is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 American Music Awards on May 26, where he will also perform one of his most famous songs. In June, Stewart will head to Glastonbury for their music festival, where he will be one of the UK event's oldest performers. His One Last Time Farewell Tour is also kicking into full gear, which sees him take the stage throughout North America at Philadelphia, Toronto, Nashville, and Lake Tahoe, among other cities.
Stewart also opened up about how he stays fit amid his rigorous schedule. "I keep myself very very fit," he said, adding that he's had a trainer for 35 years. "Frank Sinatra once said to me, 'The art of being a great vocalist is by having lung power.' "So I do a lot of underwater swimming on the bottom of the pool with a brick and you have to push it up the other end."
Stewart also keeps his mind sharp with his model railroad hobby. "I've built this incredible layout which, apparently, is one of the best in the world." He tells the publication that his railroad creation is "absolutely massive."
