Armin Amiri Shares a Surprising Story About Smoking a Joint with Former First Daughters

Armin Amiri, who stars as Ravi Gordy in the HBO series And Just Like That..., recently shared a surprising story about his encounter with the Bush sisters, Jenna and Barbara Pierce Bush, during an interview with Page Six Radio hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy.

The 46-year-old actor recalled working the door at the now-shuttered celebrity hangout spot, Bungalow 8, in the early 2000s. He revealed that the Bush sisters showed up at the club, and he didn't know who they were at first. "The first time I didn't let them in, and I didn't know who they were," Amiri said.

The twins, now 43, were known for their active social lives in the spotlight as the first daughters. Amiri recalled seeing their accompanying Secret Service personnel, and when he asked who they were, the Secret Service agent replied, "These are the first daughters." Amiri laughed, saying, "I said, 'First daughters of whom?' "

Amiri shared that he needed help with obtaining his green card, so he smoked a joint with the sisters and asked for their assistance. "I remember I needed my green card. So, we smoked a joint together, and I was just like, 'Listen, I'm having a green card problem,'" Amiri told the outlet.

As a thank you, Amiri offered to comp the sisters' meal, and one of them responded, "Honey, don't even worry about it. We're used to these kind of things." He recalled one of the sisters saying that they would "speak to someone" regarding his status, but "nothing ever happened," he joked.

Amiri, who stars in HBO's And Just Like That..., the spinoff series to Sex and the City, as film director Ravi Gordy and Seema's (Sarita Choudhury) love interest, was born in Tehran, Iran, and later relocated to Istanbul. He went on to seek political asylum in Vienna. Four years later, he relocated to the U.S. to begin his higher education and acting journey, per IMDb.
