SZA brought out a special guest during her concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 21, as part of her Grand National Tour. The singer surprised the crowd by bringing out her close friend Lizzo to perform SZA's remix of Lizzo's hit song "Special."
The two artists, who have been friends for over a decade, took the stage together to perform the 2022 song from Lizzo's album of the same name. SZA introduced Lizzo as her "best friend" who brings "energy and positivity" to the stage.
Lizzo posted about the experience on Instagram, captioning a clip of them singing together, "BABY'S FIRST STADIUM PERFORMANCE — I love u @sza u r THEE DIVA !" The post highlights the strong bond between the two artists, who have supported each other on and off the stage.
The two singers have a sacred space for each other, and their friendship has led to collaborations, including Lizzo contributing to SZA's "F2F" from her 2022 album SOS. SZA has also praised Lizzo in the past, calling out online fat-shaming and hate directed at the singer.
