Glenn Howerton, the star of the hit sitcom, has revealed his initial shock and concern upon learning about the romantic relationship between Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson.
According to Howerton, McElhenney and Olson's decision to date was "the stupidest thing you could possibly do" as it could potentially compromise the show and put everyone's job at stake.
Howerton recalled the moment McElhenney broke the news to him, saying, "You're f---ed, and your whole show is f---ed, and you f---ed everybody."
Despite Howerton's reservations, the couple went on to tie the knot in 2008 and welcome two sons, Axel Lee and Leo Grey.
Howerton also confessed that he never suspected anything romantic was going on between McElhenney and Olson, even when they lived together.
Olson would often come over and sleep at their apartment, making excuses about being drunk, while McElhenney would disappear for nights, telling Howerton he was with other girls.
Charlie Day, another costar, said he had no suspicion about the relationship, while Danny DeVito was the only one who suspected something was going on between the couple.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The hit sitcom is set to premiere its 17th season on July 9 on FXX, with episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.
