Nick Lachey Reveals the 'Golden Rule' of His Strong Marriage to Vanessa

Nick Lachey has opened up about the secret to his strong marriage to Vanessa Lachey, and it's all about setting boundaries. In an appearance on the Richer Lives podcast, Nick, 51, revealed that the key to their happy marriage is not bringing work home with them.

"The best thing you can do is not bring your work home with you," Nick said. "It's tricky when you work with your spouse, but I think we do a really good job of doing that, for the most part, but it's not easy working with your spouse sometimes."

The Couple's Golden Rule

Nick explained that the couple's "golden rule" is to keep their work and personal lives separate. This means not bringing arguments from home into the workplace and vice versa.

"You don't want that to bleed over," Nick said. "You know, I think it's kind of good to compartmentalize and recognize that you're here doing a job. Yes, you're a job, and we've been together almost 20 years now, so I think that's our golden rule, is don't bring work home, don't bring home to work. Try and keep it as separate as you can."

Other Secrets to Their Success

Nick and Vanessa, who have been married since 2011, have also revealed other secrets to their successful marriage. In an interview with BRIDES in February, the couple shared that they schedule a "hump day" to prioritize intimacy in their relationship.

Additionally, the couple has spoken about the importance of couples counseling, with Nick noting that it's normal to have disagreements after nearly two decades together.

"Anything that's worth having takes work," Nick said. "To me, that's a cornerstone of life, and marriage is no different. There's no shame in that. There's no perfect person. There's just your person."
