Travis Kelce is celebrating Taylor Swift's latest career milestone. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, publicly supported the pop superstar on Friday, May 30, moments after she revealed to fans on social media that she now owns her masters.
Kelce dropped a "like" on Swift's latest Instagram post — the same one that directed fans to a website announcing the singer-songwriter's ownership of her music catalog.
The nod from Kelce comes a week after Swift was in Florida "to support and spend time" with her boyfriend as he trains for his next NFL season, a Kelce source told PEOPLE.
In the emotional statement posted to her website, Swift wrote that all of the music she has "ever made" now belongs to her. The news arrives nearly six years after Swift's catalog — specifically, her first six albums — were sold to Scooter Braun, sparking a series of high-profile re-recordings. Braun later sold it to private equity firm Shamrock Capital.
"To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me — so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released 4 of my albums, calling them Taylor's Version," Swift wrote. "The passionate support you showed those albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now."
On Friday, a source close to contract negotiations told PEOPLE that, despite a recent report claiming Braun encouraged Shamrock to make the deal, the entrepreneur was not involved.
“Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who ‘encouraged’ this sale. All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s Nashville-based management team only,” the source said. “Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
Swift's catalog was first sold to Braun's company Ithaca Holdings in June 2019, as the sale included the masters to Swift's first six albums, recorded when she was signed to Big Machine Records.
In the years since, Swift has made an effort to re-record her first six albums as a means of giving herself ownership of the masters. She first released Fearless (Taylor's Version) in April 2021, followed by new versions of Red, 1989, and Speak Now.
