Jackie Chan made a shocking confession about filming the 1998 movie Rush Hour. The 71-year-old actor revealed that he didn't understand what his co-star Chris Tucker was saying during the entire movie.

Chan made the revelation while appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, June 3. "The whole movie, I don't know what Chris Tucker's saying," Chan said. "Not a clue."

Chan explained that in "every shot" his dialogue was "different" because of how much he struggled to understand. "My dialogue coach sits right behind the camera," he continued. "Every scene, every shot, different dialogue."

When asked if he ever outright admitted he had trouble understanding during an improv moment, Chan responded, "Yes." "I asked my dialect coach, 'What did he say?' He speaks so fast!" Chan explained.

Chan said he ultimately learned English by listening to country music, as the songs are slower.

This revelation comes after Chan ranked his favorite films in the Rush Hour trilogy. He previously stated that the first Rush Hour film was his least favorite, citing that it had "little money, little time" and that the second film had "a lot of money, a lot of time," while the third film had "too much money, too much time."

Rush Hour was one of the most popular movies released in 1998 and received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film centers around detective James Carter (played by Tucker) teaming up with a decorated Hong Kong-based detective named Lee (Chan) to help find his friend's missing daughter.

As for the possibility of a Rush Hour 4, Chan said during a December 2022 appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia that he was "talking" about it.
