The 'Next Gen NYC' star tells PEOPLE that her mom is "working really hard" to pay back the money she has borrowed amid her divorce from Kroy Biermann.
Ariana Biermann, 23, recently opened up about loaning money to her mom, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, 47, amid her messy divorce from Kroy Biermann. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Ariana revealed that although her mom owes her money, she will "never let it affect" their relationship.
"I think it's a little nerve-wracking to obviously share the money situation," she admits. "Money makes things awkward, and I hate what money can do to people. I really have tried to not ever let it affect me and my mom's relationship — she's my best friend in the world."
Ariana also notes that Kim "is very good at paying me back," despite telling her mom she didn't have to "worry about it" in the premiere of Next Gen NYC". She explains that Kim has been working hard to pay her back, and that she's done a few shows, which take a second to get paid out for everything.
In the premiere of Next Gen NYC", Ariana revealed that she never received any of the income she made before she turned 18 from Kim or Kroy, 39. She shared that she started making money at 14 from posting on Instagram and doing reality TV with her family, but her parents took her money without transparency.
Ariana expressed frustration that Kim was posting photos with "a $200 bottle of wine," and confessed that she doesn't know what to believe. She reflected that she wishes she would've been kept in the light about the money situation, and that she feels like she was grown enough to know the truth.
At the time, Kim and Kroy were facing foreclosure on their Georgia mansion and are now living separately after filing for divorce three times since May 2023.
Ariana maintained that she will always be there when her mom needs her, saying "She's going through this crazy divorce and the mother to four kids. I get it, and I never want money to destroy my relationship with my family, ever."
Next Gen NYC airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
