Aaron Rodgers, the 41-year-old quarterback, has finally found a new home in the NFL after being cut by the New York Jets. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Rodgers plans to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgers' Disappointing Time with the Jets
Rodgers joined the Jets in April 2023, but his debut was marred by a torn Achilles tendon that kept him out for the entire season. Although he started every game in the 2024 season, the Jets finished with a dismal 5-13 record and missed the playoffs.
On February 13, the Jets made it official, announcing that they would be "moving forward without" him. Rodgers had expressed his gratitude for his time with the Jets, saying it was "the best two years of my life" despite the disappointing results on the field.
When asked about his requirements for a new team, Rodgers said they had to "want" him and they had to have "a good team."
In a statement, the Jets thanked Rodgers for his "leadership, passion, and dedication" and wished him success in the future.
Rodgers' New Chapter with the Steelers
According to Rapoport, Rodgers plans to sign a one-year deal with the Steelers. The quarterback will be joining a new team after a disappointing stint with the Jets. Rapoport added that this is Rodgers' "best spot" and that the quarterback will be signing a one-year deal with Pittsburgh.
