Deion Sanders, the Colorado football coach, is dealing with an unspecified health issue, according to his son Deion Sanders Jr. in a YouTube livestream.

Sanders, 57, is currently at his home in Texas, and not with his team in Boulder, as they prepare for the upcoming season. Deion Jr., 31, said that his father is "feeling well" and will soon share "what he's going through."

The elder Sanders has a long history of blood clot issues related to his legs and feet. In 2021, he had two of his toes amputated due to blood clots. In 2023, he underwent surgery to treat blood clots in both of his legs.

Deion Jr. said on the livestream, "He'll tell y'all soon enough what he's going through, what he went through." He added that he will stay with his father in Texas until he leaves, and then he will head to Boulder.

Sanders canceled a keynote appearance at a sickle cell disease symposium in Florida, citing an "unavoidable last-minute scheduling change." Magic Johnson replaced him at the event.

Recent Health Issues

In May, Sanders shared that he was "hurt" by those who criticized his son Shedeur's fall in the NFL draft. He also gave a glimpse into his recent issues, saying that what he's dealing with now is "at a whole 'nother level" and that he had lost about 14 pounds.

Sanders previously underwent surgery to treat blood clots in both of his legs. He also had his left big toe and second toe amputated due to blood clots he developed after surgery.
