Joshua Hyunho Lee, known for playing Jintaek "Jin" Lee in the second season of XO, Kitty, is set to narrate the upcoming audiobook version of The Last Tiger by Julia and Brad Riew.
A Fantasy Romance Inspired by Korean History
The young adult fantasy romance novel, which comes out on July 29, follows two "star-crossed" teenagers, Lee Seung and Choi Eunji, as they seek out the last tiger and the liberation of their people in a colonized country that has hunted its tigers almost to extinction.
The story is inspired by what the authors' experienced during "one of the darkest periods in Korean history," the synopsis notes.
A Friends-to-Enemies-to-Lovers Story
Lee Seung and Choi Eunji bond as they "join forces to try and reshape their respective fates" within a colonized country. However, their relationship shifts from friends to enemies after landing on different sides of the battle over the final tiger, an animal that symbolizes renewed freedom for their country and its people.
"In this friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story of forbidden romance, antagonists turned allies, oppression, and liberation, neither Seung nor Eunji can abandon their mission — or each other," the synopsis reads, noting the tale is "about the power of love to give voice to a broken people."
The Audiobook Cast
The audiobook will also feature Alex Intae Kim as Grandpa Riew and Sue Jean Kim as Grandma Riew, with co-author Brad Riew narrating his half of the author's note.
The Last Tiger comes out on July 29 and is available for preorder now, wherever books are sold.
