Cher is "doing everything she can" to help her son, Elijah Blue Allman, after he was hospitalized on June 14, a source close to the family has revealed.
Allman, 48, was taken to the hospital after authorities received a call about a "male subject acting erratically," according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Upon arrival, deputies found Allman being evaluated by emergency medical personnel and discovered drugs inside the home. The investigation is ongoing.
A source close to Cher, 79, says she is focused on helping her son recover, saying, "She's doing everything she can to help her son and help him heal."
This is not the first time Allman has struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues. In December 2023, Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship over his estate, alleging that Allman was struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. The two reached a private agreement, and Cher voluntarily dismissed her petition nine months later.
Allman's estranged wife, Marieangela King Allman, has also spoken out in support of her husband, saying, "While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves."
Cher has also spoken about her efforts to help her son, saying, "I'm not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren't. I'm a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children."
