The B-52s, who made an epic return to the stage at the SNL 50 concert, will perform 11 dates this fall.
The B-52s and Devo are hitting the road together! On Monday, June 16, the bands announced their joint Cosmic De-Evolution Tour.
In a press release statement, The B-52s frontman said, "In 2022, I'd never get on a tour bus again, but we were careful to say to our fans that we would still perform in special situations that don't require all of the awful tour travel."
Mary Ellen Matthews recalled how much she loved the "far-out weirdness" of Devo when the band first arrived in New York City.
Kate Pierson recalled how much she loved the "far-out weirdness" of Devo when the band first arrived in New York City. "We remember one of our first shows-- amazed that David Bowie, Brian Eno, Frank Zappa, Allen Ginsberg, Talking Heads and Blondie all came to see us!" said the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, 77, in a statement. "When we opened the Mudd Club, we partied with Devo and really hit it off on the dance floor. Later, Brian Eno went onto to produce Devo's incredible first album…and now we will align again!"
Cindy Wilson said The B-52s and Devo began talking about doing the tour when they performed at Saturday Night Live's special 50th anniversary concert in February.
"Believe or not, we've never done more than a festival or two together in all this time," said The B-52s vocalist, 68. "This will be amazing and I can't wait for The B-52s to share these stages with Devo!”
Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh said in a statement that it was "either fate or luck or the SNL anniversary that brought us all together to create this amazing chance to go out on tour," while Gerry Casale noted that it was "mind-blowing" that the joint tour "took almost 50 years to happen."
The Cosmic De-Evolution Tour will kick off on Sept. 24 in Toronto and will hit cities including Holmdel, N.J., Los Angeles, Charlotte, N.C., before wrapping in Houston on Nov. 2.
Tickets will be available starting with CITI and AMEX presales beginning June 16, with additional presales running throughout the week. The general onsale will launch Friday, June 20 at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.
