Mark Ronson, the Oscar-winning DJ and producer, has revealed his dream narrator for his upcoming memoir, "Night People: How to Be a DJ in '90s New York City". In a conversation with Spotify Chief Public Affairs Dustee Jenkins at Cannes Lions 2025, Ronson shared that if he couldn't narrate the book himself, he would choose Timothée Chalamet to do the honors.
Ronson, 49, explained that having Chalamet on board would attract a lot of listeners to the audiobook. Chalamet, an Oscar nominee, has gained a massive following among the younger generation, making him an ideal choice to narrate Ronson's memoir.
About the Memoir
Ronson's memoir details his early career as a nightclub DJ in New York City during the 1990s. The book provides a unique perspective on the city's nightlife during that era and the making of a musical mastermind. According to Ronson, DJing in '90s New York City informed everything he did after, becoming the foundation for all his future work and creativity.
Ronson described his memoir as a "love letter to a vanished era that shaped not just his career but his identity. He hopes to capture the transformative period of his life and celebrate his great loves: the art of DJing, the thrilling energy of New York City after dark, and the wild and wonderful characters who populated their world and became his second family.
Ronson's Excitement about the Book
Ronson has been candid about the writing process and has shared his excitement about the book. In May, he revealed on Instagram that he finally got his hands on the physical book. He wrote, "I somehow forgot that thousands of hours of writing, deleting, doubting, would eventually transform into this tangible thing I can now hold in my hands."
Ronson added that flipping through the advance reading copy is "fully mind-blowing and emotional". He expressed his hope that readers will check out the book in September.
Ronson's memoir, "Night People: How to Be a DJ in '90s New York City", is set to release on September 23. The book and audiobook are now available for preorder.
