Morrissey Claims "Zero Music Industry Support" Amid European Tour, Cancels Stockholm Concert

Morrissey, the former lead singer of The Smiths, has canceled his upcoming concert in Stockholm, Sweden, citing "zero music industry support" and exhaustion from traveling.

In a statement on his website, Morrissey Central, the 66-year-old singer expressed his frustration and disappointment at not being able to perform in Stockholm, saying, "The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew." He added, "We dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus… but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places."

Morrissey, who is currently on the European leg of his tour, also complained about the lack of airplay for his music, despite selling many tickets to his shows. "No label will release our music, no radio will play our music… and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?" he asked.

The singer also alluded to struggling to find a record label to help him release his controversial album Bonfire of the Teenagers.

Fans who purchased tickets to the canceled concert in Stockholm will be refunded, according to a message sent to them.

This is not the first time Morrissey has canceled a concert. According to Consequence of Sound, he has canceled or postponed over 100 concerts since 2010.

Morrissey's North American tour is set to kick off in September, followed by stops in Latin America and South America in late October, and then back to the U.S. for a string of concerts in January 2026.
