A source tells PEOPLE that Elizabeth Hurley is "focused on the special things" that she and Billy Ray Cyrus have in common, and she "doesn't care" what skeptics think about their relationship.
The actress, 59, and the country star, 63, have been paying no mind to critics, instead focusing on their bond, which includes a shared love of country music and the country.
"Liz doesn't care that skeptics don't get it. She's focused on the special things that they have in common, like country music," the source says. "She loves his Southern vibes. He's very calm and happy around her."
The happy couple first sparked romance rumors in April, when Cyrus shared a photo of them kissing as they celebrated Easter together in Tennessee.
Work obligations have kept the pair apart in recent weeks, though the source says they're "staying in touch," and Hurley is "excited" to see her new beau.
They are set to spend her 60th birthday together on June 10.
"They have great energy together," the source adds. "She very much enjoys his company."
Hurley spoke about their relationship at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation's 2025 Hot Pink Party, which she hosted in New York City.
"We are very happy, we both love country music, we both love the country, and we both love our kids," she told European news outlet RTL TV. "We're happy together."
Cyrus congratulated his "beautiful girlfriend" Hurley for her appearance in Bryan Adams' "Never Ever Let You Go" music video on May 11.
"I should be jealous, but WOW !!!!!! 😍🔥," he wrote on Instagram.
