Tommy Dorfman has filed for divorce from Elise Williams after nearly two years of marriage, according to online records viewed by PEOPLE. The news comes five months after Dorfman seemingly hinted at their breakup in a post shared to Instagram in late December 2024.

The former couple first met on the Hinge dating app in 2021 and got engaged just two months into their relationship. They secretly eloped in late 2023, with Dorfman revealing the news in a since-deleted Instagram post and in Vogue.

In her Vogue essay, Dorfman wrote that the couple "waited a full 12 months before moving in together" despite taking in a puppy after six months of knowing each other. She also revealed that they bought their own dresses at Dover Street Market New York, where she used to work before acting, and that the ceremony was perfect.

The news of their split comes as a surprise, especially given the romantic and intimate details Dorfman shared about their relationship in her Vogue essay. In the essay, she wrote about falling in love with someone who doesn't fetishize her and about the pressure of being a trans woman in the dating world.
