Zara Larsson is speaking out against artists working with controversial producer Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, following Katy Perry's latest album, 143, which features production from Gottwald. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Larsson expressed her thoughts on collaborating with Gottwald, saying "Is it really, really important for him to come back? I don't think so."

Larsson, 27, questioned the necessity of Gottwald's return to the music industry, considering the controversy surrounding him. "I'm like, why?" she asked, referencing Gottwald's legal battle with Kesha, who accused him of "physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse over a 10-year period" in 2014.

Larsson revealed her thoughts on collaborating with Gottwald, stating, "I personally wouldn't do it because what is he gonna do for me or for anyone else?" She emphasized the importance of working with women and hiring women, adding, "I think that's way more powerful than writing a feminist anthem with someone who is not really standing for those values."

Larsson's comments come after Perry's 143 was released in September 2024, featuring lead single "Woman's World," which garnered backlash for featuring Gottwald's production alongside lyrics about women's empowerment.

Perry, 40, addressed the controversy in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast last year, saying, "Look, I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with, but the reality is it comes from me."

Larsson is gearing up to release her new album, Midnight Sun, in September, while Perry is currently promoting 143 on the Lifetimes Tour.
