Linda Hamilton, the 68-year-old actress known for her iconic role as Sarah Connor in the Terminator films, is ready for a change. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Hamilton reveals that she's looking for more "cuddly" and is tired of playing "tough guys."
Hamilton, who currently stars as General Eleanor Wright in SYFY and USA's Resident Alien, says she's ready to bring more heartwarming moments to the screen. "I've told my agents if it isn't cuddly, don't bring it to me. I'll let them interpret what cuddly is," she says.

Hamilton, who has a history of playing strong characters, says she's ready to show a softer side. "I'm real tired of tough guys. I want to smile on film," she adds.
Despite her iconic role in the Terminator franchise, Hamilton says she's often typecast as a tough guy. "People actually come up to me and treat me like I saved the world. You know what I mean? It's amazing. For years now, people just come up with this gratitude, which is kind of wonderful," she says.

Becoming a Grandma and Finding Joy
Hamilton, who has two children, recently became a grandmother for the first time nearly six months ago. She says her grandson is "just so precious" and that she feels a special connection with him. "I actually feel like we've known each other," she says.
Hamilton's new role in Resident Alien, which airs on USA Network and SYFY on Friday nights at 11 p.m. ET, has brought her joy and a sense of fulfillment. "I don't know where I stand on retiring now. I just love the work," she says.
