Beyoncé has expressed her gratitude to Paul McCartney for writing the iconic Beatles song "Blackbird", which she has covered on her 2024 album "Cowboy Carter". The singer took to Instagram to thank the legendary musician, saying "Every time I sing it I feel so honored."
The "Texas Hold Em" singer also thanked fans who attended her London performances as part of her Cowboy Carter tour, saying "Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family. Holla at 'ya when I come on tour again!"
Beyoncé's cover of "Blackbird" features Black country artists Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, and Tiera Kennedy. McCartney praised the cover after its release, saying "I am so happy with @beyonce's version of my song 'Blackbird'... I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place."
McCartney also spoke about the inspiration behind the song, which was inspired by the Little Rock Nine in Arkansas, who faced discrimination for attending an all-white high school in 1957. "When I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can't believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now."
Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour is set to continue with three shows in Paris before returning to the US, with stops in Houston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Las Vegas.
