Ralph Fiennes, the actor who played Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series, has shared some hilarious fashion advice for the next actor to take on the role in the upcoming HBO TV series.

Fiennes, who played the Dark Lord for five films between 2005 and 2011, advised the next actor to "make sure you can handle the long, flowing robes, and don't trip over them" and to "practice your long, flowing robe walk," in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Fiennes, who will next be seen onscreen in "28 Years Later," also shared a fun fact about a part of his Voldemort garb that he had changed. He recalled how his tights were initially one piece that had a gusset, which "kept getting lower and lower throughout the shooting day and became uncomfortable."

Fiennes requested "individual tights like a garter belt," before adding, "So I enjoyed teasing the stunt guys by lifting up my robes and showing them my garter belt."

Fiennes' Fashion Advice is Just the Beginning

Fiennes' fashion advice is just the beginning of the excitement surrounding the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. The main trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton respectively.

In addition, John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu will play Severus Snape, and Nick Frost will play Rubeus Hagrid — all Hogwarts favorites.

While it's still unclear who will play Voldemort in the HBO series, Fiennes has given his seal of approval for Cillian Murphy taking over the role, calling him a "wonderful suggestion."
