Carly Simon, the legendary singer-songwriter, has come to the defense of Sabrina Carpenter amid the backlash surrounding the album cover for her forthcoming album, Man's Best Friend.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Simon stated that the album artwork seemed "tame" and that Carpenter was not doing anything outrageous. Simon also drew parallels to her own controversial album cover for her 1975 album, Playing Possum, which featured her on her knees wearing black lingerie and black leather boots.

Simon's album cover sparked debate and controversy upon its release, with some calling it one of the sexiest covers ever seen. Simon stated that she didn't understand why Carpenter was facing backlash, as there have been far flashier covers than hers.

Carpenter's album artwork features a photo of her on her hands and knees as someone who appears to be a man grabs her by the hair. The image has sparked controversy and debate, with some calling it outrageous and others defending it as tame.

In response to the backlash, Carpenter clapped back at a comment about her personality, saying that she did have a personality outside of sex" and that it was "gooooood."

Man's Best Friend is set to be released on August 29, following Carpenter's chart-topping LP Short n' Sweet, which was released last August.
