Bluebird Cafe Manager Speaks Out About Claim Olivia Rodrigo and Her Team Asked Them to Remove Taylor Swift Photos

The manager of the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville is speaking out following reports that they were asked to remove photos of Taylor Swift by Olivia Rodrigo's team when she performed there.

An employee claimed that the cafe "vowed to remove any visible signs of Taylor Swift" for the singer, which Bluebird Cafe has denied. Erica Nichols, the general manager and COO, shared a video on X to "bring some truth" to the "questions and discussion" online.

"Olivia's people did not ask us to remove an image of Taylor Swift. Nobody did. We removed an image of Taylor Swift that was in a position where the filming was taking place," Nichols explained.

"When we have filmings, we are required legally to remove images that are under copyright. We don't own those images, so we cannot give permission for those images to be used in any kind of broadcast. That's the sole reason that the photograph was removed from the place it stood."

The manager noted that the rest of the images of Swift stayed in place, and that other pictures in the room also needed to be removed. Nichols asked fans not to get upset about any confusion, stating that it was a "mistake on the part of the employee" and that the cafe supports both Swift and Rodrigo.

Fans began to speculate online that there was bad blood between the artists, following rumors that Rodrigo wrote "Vampire" about Swift. However, Rodrigo has denied any beef with Swift, and has even gushed about the singer in interviews.

Swift is credited on two of her songs from her Guts album, "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back" and "Deja Vu," which reference Swift's "New Year's Day" and "Cruel Summer," respectively, and now have the 14-time Grammy winner listed for songwriting credits.
