Lola Young's set at Capital's Summertime Ball didn't go as planned. On Sunday, June 15, at London's Wembley Stadium, Young's performance was cut short due to sound issues that left her unable to hear through her earpiece.
In a video uploaded to TikTok by a fan, Young, 24, walked backstage, bursting into tears as a member of her team comforted her.
In a separate fan video on TikTok, during her performance of "Messy," Young told the crowd, "Sorry guys, my ears are going in and out." She then yelled out, "Can I get some new ears?"
Young tried to sing along to her own lyrics but couldn't keep in time with the band and asked her fans to "sing along please." After the song ended, she walked off stage visibly upset.
This incident comes months after her debut performance at Coachella, where she experienced a nerve-induced stomach illness throughout her set and joked about it in a video shared to Instagram afterward.
On Wednesday, June 18, Young announced the release date for her upcoming album, I'm Only F------ Myself, which she called her "ode to self sabotage, my chance to claw myself back from the edge of defeat." The album is out Friday, Sept. 19.
Earlier this month, Young also announced tour dates for an upcoming North American tour, which kicks off in November.
