Livvy Dunne, the former LSU gymnastics star, shared an update on her recovery from a fractured kneecap and her experiences adjusting to life after gymnastics.

Dunne, 22, spoke to PEOPLE at the Fanatics Fest in New York City, where she revealed that her injury is "getting better slowly but surely." She also mentioned that she's been "grinding nonstop" since retiring from gymnastics.

Dunne suffered an avulsion fracture of her patella near the end of LSU's gymnastics season in March. She explained that she's "still trying to find the balance" in her lifestyle after saying goodbye to gymnastics.

As she transitions into her next chapter, Dunne says she's "definitely" feeling a change in her lifestyle. "I feel like as an athlete, I've always been disciplined and I've always had my finger on the pulse of what worked for me and what didn't, because even the slightest difference in gymnastics is huge, but, it definitely is a little bit different being a non-athlete anymore."

Dunne also revealed that she texts her former teammates "pretty much every single day." She says she's super close with them and loves to stay in contact with them because they were like her sisters.
