Hannah Brown's Go-To Summer Reads: A Mix of Romance, Friendship, and Self-Discovery

Published: June 24, 2025

Hannah Brown, the former Bachelorette and romance author, has shared her favorite summer reads with Page Six. The list includes a mix of sweeping love stories, heartwarming tales of friendship, and commentary on womanhood, all of which serve as an outlet for Brown.

"Reading is such a wonderful escape from the bustle of everyday life — at the same time, I always have something tucked into my suitcase when I'm on the go, because reading helps ground me," Brown told Page Six.

Brown, who has written four books, including her memoir "God Bless This Mess" and two romance novels "Mistakes We Never Made" and "The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain", has a penchant for romance and self-empowerment books. Here are her top picks for summer:

  • 'People We Meet on Vacation' by Emily Henry - A rom-com novel that follows two opposites who put their differences aside to honor their decade-long tradition of spending one week on vacation together.
  • 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' by Ann Brashares - A novel that follows four friends and one pair of jeans that fits them all as they embark on the "summer of their lives". Brown cherishes the novel because of its middle school nostalgia and strong girl group theme.
  • 'Worthy' by Jamie Kern Lima - A self-empowerment book that helps readers believe in their self-worth, identity, and esteem. Brown, who has often struggled with feeling like she's "enough", is drawn to this book because "Jaime doesn't just tell you you're worthy — she helps you believe it for yourself."
  • 'In Five Years' by Rebecca Serle - A novel that traces the path of love and friendship when a woman, Dannie, has a brief but powerful premonition of herself living a very different life five years into the future. Brown praised the author for her "lovely and smooth" writing style and complex, impactful stories.
  • 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen - A classic novel that "is one for the ages". Brown, who often tends toward contemporary romance and romantic comedies, says Austen's novel helped guide her when she began writing romance herself.
  • 'Daisy Jones and The Six' by Taylor Jenkins Reid - A novel that Brown is a huge fan of, saying "the writing style is so unique and I was so impressed with how Taylor was able to juggle all the different elements that this book had to offer".
  • 'The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain' by Hannah Brown - Brown's second romance novel, out June 24, sees a woman run into her ex-fiancé on what would have been their honeymoon. A healthy mix of rom-coms Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Anyone But You, the novel embraces Sybil's clumsy pursuit to heal from past relationships and open up to a final chance at love.

These books are sure to keep you company this summer! Whether you're looking for romance, self-discovery, or a mix of both, Hannah Brown's go-to reads have got you covered.
