Country singer Chase Rice had a full-circle moment with Taylor Swift at the Tight End University event in Nashville. Rice shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, recalling how Swift's tweet about his song "Cruise" in 2012 helped boost its popularity.
Rice, 39, captioned the post: "We wrote 'Cruise' 14 years ago and Taylor tweeted about it, the rest was history. Most likely woulda been a big ole song anyways but her recognizing it sure didn't hurt." He continued, "Last night I got to thank her all these years later. My music has changed significantly, but it's always fun to honor the roads that got us where we are. Baby you a song... 🎶🎤"
The post included three clips, including a video of Swift speaking to the crowd before launching into a surprise performance of "Shake It Off." In another clip, Rice is seen performing "Cruise" at the Tight End University afterparty, with Swift swaying and singing along.
Swift delivered her surprise set on Tuesday, June 24, at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, where she performed her 2014 hit "Shake it Off." An exclusive source told PEOPLE that "the crowd lost their minds" when Swift joined Kane Brown on stage to surprise the crowd.
