AJ Blount, a star of Netflix's 'The Ultimatum: Queer Love', is speaking out about her experience on the show and addressing the backlash she received for her flirty behavior.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, AJ explained that she's naturally a "people person" and didn't intend to lead anyone on. "I think it's important to know that, one: I am a people person. I do thrive in more people environments. The more, the merrier."
However, AJ acknowledged that her lack of urgency in making decisions led to problems and caused more drama than anticipated. "I wish I just had a better eye for that and a better urgency, like a sense of urgency throughout the process."
AJ's journey on the show was marked by controversy, particularly during the changeover dinner when she was called out for her misleading actions. Her fellow contestants felt that she was being overly physical and leading them on, causing feelings of strong chemistry and attraction.

AJ chose Marie Robertson as her trial marriage partner, but not before causing tension with Marita Prodger, who had also developed feelings for her. Marita later ended up with AJ's original partner, Britney Thompson.
AJ expressed regret over her missteps and emphasized her focus on being respectful during the intense moments on the show. "I think that because of me not being able to make decisions, it definitely landed me in a lot of hot water. But I really hope that no matter what people can see that generally I did care. I do care."
The drama on the show was palpable, with AJ describing the cast dinners as "intense" and "emotional". She hopes that viewers can see that she was genuinely trying to figure out her feelings and make the right decision.
Episodes 1-7 of 'The Ultimatum: Queer Love' are now streaming on Netflix, with episodes 8-10 dropping on July 2.
