Sarah Sherman, a cast member of Saturday Night Live (SNL), had a surprising and emotional experience when she discovered that her residual checks were being sent to the estate of the late Gilda Radner, a founding member of SNL.
During an interview on Vulture's Good One podcast, Sherman revealed that she "started hysterically sobbing" when she received a package from Radner's brother, who had been receiving her checks by mistake.
The package contained a handwritten letter from Radner's brother, explaining the mix-up and returning the checks to Sherman. Sherman said she felt like it was a "miracle" and that "God's speaking to me right now."
She even texted Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, about the incident, saying, "My checks have been sent to Gilda Radner's estate. Isn't this, like, a crazy coincidence? I feel like this is like a miracle or like a spirit is talking." Michaels responded with a simple, "That's sweet."
Gilda Radner's Legacy on SNL
Gilda Radner was a beloved cast member of SNL, known for her iconic characters, including Roseanna Roseannadanna. She passed away in 1989 at the age of 42.
Earlier this year, Radner's castmates honored her during the 50th anniversary special of SNL. Laraine Newman and Jane Curtin brought Radner along for the celebration, holding a framed photo of her on stage.
