Apple TV+'s comedy series The Studio has finally dropped its season 1 finale, and it's packed with surprises. One of the most unexpected moments is an extremely inebriated Dave Franco, 39, recapping the ridiculous events of the penultimate episode.
The idea to have Franco introduce the finale episode was a rather last-minute one, according to star and co-creator Seth Rogen. In fact, Franco's costars Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O'Hara, and Chase Sui Wonders didn't even know about the voiceover until their interview with PEOPLE.
Rogen explains that Franco's voiceover is his "favorite" part of the finale, describing it as a "drunk Dave Franco describing what happened in the previous episode."
The voiceover, which was recorded by Franco on his phone within 10 minutes, is a hilarious recap of the penultimate episode's chaos, including Seth Rogen's character throwing a wild party that puts the studio's big CinemaCon at risk.
Franco's voiceover is full of laughs, from his introduction, where he admits to being "a little f----- up," to his recap of the party, where he describes Griffin (Bryan Cranston) telling Matt (Rogen) that Continental Studios is going to be bought by "f------ Amazon" and they'll lose their jobs.
The voiceover also includes a hilarious nod to Now You See Me, with a clip of Franco's character Jack Wilder throwing cards like a pro, saying, "Now listen, I gotta hit the tables and win tons of f------- money, cause I can count cards and s---- from those magic movies I was in. So enjoy the f------- episode! Vegas, baby!"
