Huey Lewis, the 74-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, sat down with PEOPLE to discuss his role in Gibson's efforts to locate the guitar Michael J. Fox played in Back to the Future. Lewis also opened up about his journey with the condition Ménière's disease and what he's looking forward to in his own future.

Lewis, who has been living with Ménière's disease for over 25 years, shared that he's had to come to terms with the fact that he can no longer hear music, a devastating blow to a musician who has made a career out of creating and enjoying music.

"The worst part is that means it's bad enough not to be able to perform and sing and play, but it's really bad not to even be able to enjoy music," Lewis said.

Despite the challenges, Lewis remains hopeful about his future, saying "I'm not going to give up. I'm going to try. But geez, that kind of fun, that kind of great ride. I doubt I'm ever going to see that... feel that again."

Lewis also shared that he's found solace in a quiet day by the river, where he can connect with nature and enjoy fly fishing. "I love the outdoors. I'm a fly fishing fanatic, but it's more, I really feel like it's connecting with Mother Nature. It's not necessarily, I try to, my fishing experiences, I try to qualitatively rather than quantitatively assess them. So I love being outside, my connection with nature. And my perfect day would be fishing," he said.

In addition to his love of music and the outdoors, Lewis is also working on a Broadway musical, The Heart of Rock and Roll, with his band Huey Lewis and the News. "We're trying to get it up and get it to London, and we're going to tour America in 2027, so we have to put it together this next year. We put it up on Broadway for a few months — too short, unfortunately. But it's really a great show and I'm very excited about it," he said.

Lewis also teased that he has "a little bit of a TV show in development with Aaron Kaplan and Jimmy Kimmel that we're flirting with, but it's early days yet," but remained mum on further details.
