The Irish actress, Kerry Condon, felt a sense of relief when she was told to keep her natural Irish accent for her role in the upcoming film, F1. Condon, who attended the New York City premiere of the movie on Monday, June 16, spoke with PEOPLE about her experience working on the film.
"I was like, 'Oh, thank God'; I had so many other things to think about," Condon said, expressing her gratitude for not having to adopt a different accent for the role.
Kerry Condon's Character in F1
Condon plays the role of Kate, a technical director for the team owned by Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem). In one scene, Kate has a less-than-stellar first impression with Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a retired racer contemplating a return to Formula 1.
Despite the initial awkwardness, Sonny and Kate's relationship evolves as they work together, with Sonny navigating the challenges of his "audition" to join their team.
Brad Pitt's Experience Filming F1
Brad Pitt, who stars alongside Condon in the film, spoke with PEOPLE at the premiere about his experience filming F1. "There's a strange calm in the car when you're hitting everything," Pitt said, describing the unique sensation of filming high-speed racing scenes.
F1 is set to hit theaters on June 27.
