Rebel Wilson took her physical comedy to the next level in her new action comedy, 'Bride Hard', where she played a bridesmaid who puts her secret skills to the test to save her best friend's wedding.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 45-year-old actress revealed that she trained for five weeks and was in "beast mode" to do the fight scenes. This was a departure from her past work, which involved "quite a lot of falls."
Wilson's Physical Transformation
Wilson, who has been open about her weight loss journey, said that she enjoyed getting paid to be fit. She added that she was "pretty strong" during the filming and had to be in "beast mode" to master the physical scenes.
Jackie Chan Inspiration
Wilson, a self-proclaimed Jackie Chan fan, revealed that she was inspired by the martial arts legend's use of nunchucks in the film. She even shared that she's "a little bit coordinated" but not at the level of Bruce Lee.
Fight Scene Injuries
Although Wilson only got injured on the last night of filming, where a gun accidentally hit her face, she did share one skill she's taking away from her training - throwing a good left hook.
