At 66, Mel Owens is ready to find love as the new Golden Bachelor on ABC's dating series. In a recent interview, Owens shared his ideal dating age range and what he's looking for in a partner.
Owens revealed that he's looking for someone between the ages of 45 and 60, but the executive producer of the show told him that he can't cut anyone over 60. "I said, 'You know, if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them,'" Owens recalled. "And then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, 'You know, if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them.'"
When asked about what he's looking for in a partner, Owens said, "I told them, 'Try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, you know, that kind of stuff, right?' I'm looking for someone who is fit because I'm staying in shape and work out and stuff."
Owens also shared that he wants someone who is a "lifetime learner" and enjoys "working out, staying fit, eating, having fun, being energetic, and living life." He added, "I want someone who is honest, charming, loving, and fit. Someone full of life because it's go time."

Owens was announced as the new Golden Bachelor in April, following in the footsteps of Gerry Turner, who served as the inaugural Golden Bachelor in 2023. The show is set to return this fall on ABC.
