Jenna Fischer, the actress who played Pam Beesly in the hit TV show "The Office," has revealed that she always knew her co-star John Krasinski would find success in his career.
In a recent interview on the "Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade" podcast, Fischer reflected on seeing star power very early on in Krasinski, saying, "It was a surprise to none of us." She then added, "I would always say to John, 'I think you're gonna be like our Tom Hanks.'" Fischer explained that she meant Krasinski would start in TV and then move on to bigger things, just like Hanks did.
Fischer also mentioned that she would compare Krasinski's career to Tom Hanks', who starred in the 1980 sitcom "Bosom Buddies" before becoming a movie star. Fischer said, "I think The Office is gonna be your Bosom Buddies. Like, you're going places." Krasinski, who directed the 2018 film "A Quiet Place," starring his wife Emily Blunt, has indeed gone on to achieve great success in his career.
Fischer also praised Krasinski, saying he was "very humble" and didn't like to be praised too much. She added, "He doesn't wanna be, like, fussed over like that. But I was like, no. It's true, mister." Fischer and Krasinski starred together as on-screen lovers Pam and Jim on "The Office" from 2005 to 2013.
Fischer also talked about how fans had a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Jim and Pam's relationship wasn't real. She said, "People don't know how John and I are not a couple in real life. They don't understand it." Fischer added that it's hard to explain to people that they were just playing characters, saying, "I don't know how to explain it, because it's a little bit like telling kids there's no Santa."
