Courtney Vandersloot made history on Thursday, May 29, by becoming the Chicago Sky's all-time leading scorer in franchise history, surpassing her wife Allie Quigley's record of 3,273 points.
The record-breaking moment came in the third quarter of the Sky's win over the Dallas Wings, with Quigley enthusiastically filming the shot on her phone. Vandersloot scored 13 points in the game, bringing her total points for the franchise to 3,728 on 1,390 field goals.
Quigley's Reaction
Quigley's excited reaction was shown on the broadcast, and Vandersloot later reposted a video of her wife's reaction on her Instagram Stories, joking that Quigley was "a little happy, a little mad" about the record being broken.
Vandersloot added a laughing emoji and in another post, she reposted an old photo of herself and Quigley sharing the court, writing, "She will always be my number 1."
Vandersloot's Thoughts
After the game, Vandersloot told reporters, including the Chicago Sun-Times, that the "time spent here" in Chicago is "what means the most" to her.
"It just speaks to the commitment that I made to the Chicago Sky and their commitment to me as well. They drafted me and let me develop. We had a lot of tough seasons. It wasn't always easy," she said.
Personal Life
In April, PEOPLE exclusively shared the news that the couple welcomed their first daughter together. "We are over the moon to welcome our baby girl to the world," Vandersloot and Quigley, affectionately known as "the VanderQuigs," told PEOPLE.
Vandersloot and Quigley, the first married couple to win a professional sports championship together, tied the knot in December 2018. The couple kept their relationship private for more than five years before announcing news of their nuptials on Instagram.
