The cast of the Little House on the Prairie reboot has posed for their first photo together as the show begins production in Canada. The new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved book series has started filming, and Netflix has shared a photo of the cast gathered together at a table read.

The Ingalls Family and Other Cast Members

The table read photo features Luke Bracey as Pa, Charles Ingalls; Crosby Fitzgerald as Ma, Caroline Ingalls; Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls; and Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, the series' protagonist. Other cast members present included Warren Christie as John Edwards, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, Alyssa Wapanatâhk as White Sun, and Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann.

The reboot promises to be a "fresh adaptation" of the original book series, with a logline that teases the show as "part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West."

Production and Cast Statements

Rebecca Sonnenshine is executive producing and showrunning the adaptation, and Sarah Adina Smith is directing the first episode. "I am absolutely thrilled with the brilliant cast we have assembled," Sonnenshine said in a statement. "Each one of them brings something special to the Little House universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation."

Original Series and Remake

The original Little House on the Prairie show debuted on NBC in the 1970s and ran for nine seasons between 1974 and 1983. The show followed the Ingalls family, as depicted in Ingalls Wilder's classic semi-autobiographical novels, and their life in the American West in the late 1800s.

The original series starred Michael Landon as Pa, Charles Ingalls; Karen Grassle as Ma, Caroline Ingalls; and Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls, among others. Gilbert told PEOPLE in February 2025 that the remake will "hew closer" to the books than the original series and weighed in on whether fans could see her make a cameo.
