Glee Alums Celebrate Criss Takes Home Best Actor in a Musical for Maybe Happy Ending
Chris Colfer is beaming with pride over his former Glee co-star Darren Criss, who recently took home the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in Maybe Happy Ending.
In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, Colfer, 35, gushed about Criss' big win, "I'm very proud. Very, very proud." The actor and author, who starred as Kurt Hummel opposite Criss' Blaine Anderson on the hit musical teen dramedy series, couldn't help but praise Criss' incredible performance in the Broadway play.
"He's incredible in the show," Colfer said. "The show's so good, and I'm so glad he won because the party was that much more fun afterwards."
Criss, 38, won the Tony Award for his role as Oliver in Maybe Happy Ending, beating out other notable nominees, including fellow Glee alum Jonathan Groff. In his acceptance speech, the actor dedicated his win to his wife, Mia, with whom he shares two children, Bluesy, 3, and Brother, 2.
Colfer also reflected on Glee's legacy, sharing that one of his favorite memories from the show is "meeting all the amazing guest stars" that appeared on the show. "I'm still friends with a lot of them. And that was by far the greatest part of the experience, was meeting living legends."
Some of the guest stars he still keeps in touch with include Carol Burnett, Shirley MacLaine, and Kristin Chenoweth. "We were so blessed to have all that talent on the show," he added.
