The investigation into the death of former New York Yankees player Brett Gardner's son Miller is still ongoing, with authorities in Costa Rica working to determine whether the cause of death was a homicide or not, according to a new report from ESPN.
Miller died on March 21 while the Gardner family was on vacation in Costa Rica. Local investigators previously found "high levels of carbon monoxide contamination" in the hotel room where Miller was sleeping.
A spokeswoman with the Prosecutor's Office, Sharon Hernandez Coto, said that authorities are still working to determine whether the cause of death was a homicide or not, and if so, to establish responsibility.
"The aim is to determine whether it was a natural or homicidal death," Coto said. "For this reason, it is not possible at this time to confirm or rule out that a crime has been committed."
