In a recent interview, Bruce Springsteen opened up about the making of his biopic 'Deliver Me From Nowhere', revealing that the experience was "much worse" for Jeremy Allen White, the actor portraying him.
According to Springsteen, he and White established boundaries for when he wanted to watch filming, with Springsteen telling White to "give me the look and I'm on my way home" if he ever got in the way of a scene.
"I'm sure it was much worse for the actor than for me," he said, adding that White "was very, very tolerant of me the days that I would appear on set."
Springsteen noted that he tried to avoid days when some of the "really deeply personal" parts of his life were being acted out, saying, "I mean, there's some unusualness to it because the movie involves, in some ways, some of the most painful days of my life."
When those tough moments came up, Springsteen said he would "just stay at home" because he wanted the actors "to feel completely free, and I didn't want to get in the way."
The film, directed by Scott Cooper, explores Springsteen's life as he records his landmark sixth studio album, 1982's Nebraska. The trailer shows how the film aims to delve into a time in Springsteen's life "when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past."
The film also stars Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron, and David Krumholtz, and is set to open in theaters on October 24.
