Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been vocal about the importance of mental health, and recently shared how therapy has impacted his life.
On his Instagram Stories, James wrote, "Therapy showed me how to open up! It also showed me I don't give a F****." The NBA veteran has been an outspoken proponent of self-care and has used his platform to support others on their own journeys.
James has had time to contemplate his place in the league, following his 22nd year in the league. The basketball icon has been on a forced vacation since the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs on May 1.
James has been an outspoken supporter of his former teammate Kevin Love, who shared his own battle with anxiety in 2018. Love recalled how James reached out to him, saying, "You helped a lot of people today. It's important." Love said that James' words were "super powerful" for him.
James has not announced whether he will return for what would be a league-record 23rd season. Last year, he made history by playing with his son Bronny, and benefited from the blockbuster-trade arrival of Luka Dončić.
It's not just LeBron James who is speaking out about mental health. Kate and Andy Spade were trying to work things out before her death, and Gloria Estefan opens up about her latest album.
