Bryce Dallas Howard, the eldest daughter of Ron Howard and Cheryl Howard, recently opened up about why she missed her parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration.
Ron and Cheryl tied the knot on June 7, 1975, and Bryce, 44, revealed to PEOPLE at the Tribeca Festival that she was unable to celebrate with them because she had a prior obligation to attend the Deep Cover premiere.
"It is absolutely incredible. They're all right now, they're celebrating. Honestly, the only reason why I'm not there is because of this," Bryce explained. "We were tracking, we were like, 'Okay, for the plane flight, could I come back in time?' And I would've missed the premiere, which is my job to be here and I am so excited to be here."
Although Bryce prioritized work, she didn't miss expressing her admiration to Ron and Cheryl, both 71, as they reached five decades of marriage.
"Basically what happened was with the time difference where they are, I called in at midnight," Bryce shared. "It was midnight, and it's just wonderful. They've been together since they were 16 years old, and I have so many memories of my grandparents' 50-year wedding anniversaries. The fact that my parents are already there is really beautiful. So beautiful."
Ron celebrated their "golden anniversary" on Instagram with a sweet tribute to his wife alongside a selfie photo of the couple on a beach at sunset.
"Grateful for 50 amazing years and the family and experiences it has yielded," Ron wrote in the caption of his post. "What an adventure down river through calm soothing waters and some tricky rapids as well."
The filmmaker shared the secret to his successful marriage, writing, "Our key….love and respect each other enough to just keep paddling. Thank God for you, Cheryl."
Many celebrities, including Glen Powell, Glenn Close, Katie Couric, Yvette Nicole Brown, Octavia Spencer, Rita Wilson, and Josh Gad, wished the "lovebirds" congratulations in the comments section.
Ron and Cheryl got married on June 7, 1975. Six years later, the Happy Days star and author welcomed their first child together, Bryce. The pair are also parents to twin daughters Jocelyn Carlyle and Paige Carlyle, 40, and son Reed Cross, 38.
