Renée Zellweger has expressed her desire to play Bridget Jones again, despite being told that the latest installment was the final one.

The 56-year-old actress, who first played Bridget Jones in 2001's 'Bridget Jones' Diary', has starred in three sequels: 'The Edge of Reason', 'Bridget Jones's Baby', and 'Mad About the Boy'.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zellweger revealed that she would love to return to the iconic role, given the chance.

"My understanding was that this was kind of it, but I keep my fingers crossed that she might want to share more of her own experiences through the world of Bridget," Zellweger shared.

Morris, the director of 'Mad About the Boy', also expressed his hope for more chapters in the Bridget Jones franchise, citing the expanded universe introduced in the latest film, which includes characters like Chiwetel Ejiofor's Scott Walliker and Leo Woodall's Roxster McDuff.

Zellweger has previously spoken about the emotional goodbye to the character, saying that "real tears" were shed during the New York City premiere for 'Mad About the Boy'.

The actress has also expressed her gratitude to the cast, including Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, saying that it was "both wonderful and really sad" to say goodbye.

Zellweger's portrayal of Bridget Jones has been widely praised, and the character has become an iconic figure in romantic comedies. The franchise has spawned four novels and three movies, and it remains to be seen if more Bridget Jones tales will be told on the screen.
