Emily Henry Teases Easter Eggs in 'People We Meet on Vacation' Screen Adaptation on Bookmarked by Reese's Book Club

Authors Emily Henry and Yulin Kuang are the first guests on the new podcast Bookmarked by Reese's Book Club, and they're giving readers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Henry's bestselling novel "People We Meet on Vacation". The podcast, hosted by Danielle Robay, debuts on June 24 and features Henry and Kuang discussing their collaboration on the film adaptation of "People We Meet on Vacation", which is set to debut later this year.

Kuang, who was the first screenwriter on "People We Meet on Vacation", shared her approach to adapting the novel for the screen, stating that she aimed to create a film that would entice viewers to read the source material. Henry, meanwhile, teased some Easter eggs that fans of the book can look out for in the film, including a visual nod to the book's cover.

"In the very first draft of 'People We Meet on Vacation', I knew what I would want as a reader was a recreation of the cover," Kuang said. "So I wrote something that was a recreation of the cover that I think book lovers will identify."

Henry's novel "People We Meet on Vacation" follows the story of friends-turned-love interests Poppy and Alex, who lead very different lives but set aside one week per year to go on vacation together. The film adaptation, starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as Poppy and Alex, is set to debut later this year.
