Boston University Soccer Player Accuses Assistant Coach of Sexual Harassment amid Alex Cooper's Allegations

A new allegation of sexual harassment has surfaced against former Boston University soccer coach Casey Brown, who resigned in December 2024 after an investigation by the school. The accusation comes just two weeks after Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper accused her former head coach Nancy Feldman of sexual harassment in her Hulu docuseries Call Her Alex.

According to The Boston Globe, current BU midfielder Shayla Brown contacted the university's confidential ethics hotline on September 14, 2024, alleging that Brown was acting inappropriately towards one of the team's key players. Shayla Brown claimed that the coach was focusing excessively on the player and trying to manipulate her in ways that were distressing to the player and her teammates.

The key player, who remains on the BU soccer team and requested anonymity, told the university that she had been subjected to a stream of awkward texts, unsettling invitations, and unwanted attention from the coach over a period of two years.

Shayla Brown and 17 other BU women's soccer players reported similar claims to the university's Equal Opportunity Office, leading to an investigation that ultimately resulted in Brown's resignation.

Brown, who played for BU herself before becoming an assistant coach under Feldman, was placed on leave midseason before officially resigning in December 2024. In a statement to The Globe, Brown denied any wrongdoing, saying she would never ignore or dismiss a player seeking help.

Cooper, who accused Feldman of sexual harassment, previously opened up about her experiences with Brown, saying that she did "nothing" to help her during a meeting with Feldman despite "locking eyes" with each other.
