Amanda Seyfried has candidly revealed the details of her audition process for the role of Glinda in the movie musical Wicked. In a recent episode of Backstage's 'In the Envelope' podcast, the 39-year-old actress shared that she auditioned six times for the role, putting in an immense amount of effort to land the part.

"I'm in that privileged spot where I just don't have to [audition]," Seyfried said. "But I like, of course, I talked about this a lot. I auditioned like six times for Wicked."

The Oscar-nominated actress explained that she worked tirelessly to perfect her audition, even when her schedule was already busy. "I barely had time to do it, but I made it work," she said. "I worked my ass off for years and years and years on that music."

This isn't the first time Seyfried has spoken about her audition process for Wicked. In March, she appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where she shared that she sang with Cynthia Erivo while trying out for Glinda. Although she didn't land the role, which ultimately went to Ariana Grande, Seyfried said she cherished the experience and felt proud of her hard work.

"I was able to really prepare, and I'm telling you, I've never felt that solid in my voice than I did at the auditions," Seyfried said. "And that's kind of what I got out of it."

Seyfried also recalled how she "bent over backwards" to audition for the role while filming The Dropout, for which she later won an Emmy. "I literally bent over backwards while playing the hardest role of my life," she said. "But I think it also taught me how far I've come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove."
