Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr. to Reunite in a New Holiday Movie

Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr. are teaming up again, more than 25 years after their iconic roles in the 1999 teen romantic comedy, She's All That. The duo is set to star in an upcoming holiday film titled The Christmas Affair, announced Fox Entertainment Studios on Thursday, May 29. The movie follows Cook and Prinze as sports broadcasters Natalie and Gabe, who form an unlikely alliance after their spouses are caught cheating weeks before Christmas.

"I ❤️ Freddie, my ❤️ FOX Family, New York, and Christmas ❄️ so I could not be more excited to announce this !!!" Cook wrote on Instagram, sharing an article about the reunion.

The film is being produced by Jennifer Gibgot, who co-produced She's All That. Gibgot commented on Cook's post, "I can't wait ❄️." Cook responded, "same!!!" and gave credit to Gibgot for the idea, saying "And just to say it publicly: all of this was Jen's idea!!"

In The Christmas Affair, as holiday chaos and media attention mount, Natalie and Gabe begin to fall for each other. But is this just a rebound, or the start of a real Christmas romance?

Cook and Prinze previously starred together in She's All That, where they played high school students who meet after Prinze's character makes a bet that he can turn a random student into a prom queen in six weeks. The two slowly grow closer until Cook's character learns about the bet, but they ultimately reconcile and share a kiss after the school's prom.

This reunion comes after Prinze hinted to PEOPLE in August 2024 that he and Cook were working on a new movie together. "I got an email from Rachael Leigh Cook about a movie we're trying to do together," he said at the time. "We're still really good friends. . . It'll be a romantic comedy but not related to She's All That."

While no sequel to She's All That was ever produced, Cook did appear in a 2021 Netflix gender-swapped version of the movie titled He's All That as Addison Rae's character's mother. Cook told PEOPLE at the time that Prinze considered appearing in that movie but ultimately decided it was not "a good fit for him."
