Mia Sara, the actress who rose to fame with her breakout performance as Sloane in 1986, has been living a quiet life away from the spotlight. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Sara opens up about her life now, nearly 40 years after her iconic role.
"I got a really, really good [life]," says the actress and poet, now 57, who lives in a 17th-century farmhouse in Suffolk, England, with her husband Brian Henson, son Dashiell, 28, and daughter Amelia, 20.

Sara's first feature film in nearly 15 years, The Life of Chuck, is in select theaters now and opens wide on Friday, June 13. The actress stars as Sarah Krantz opposite Mark Hamill's Albie Krantz, the grandparents of the titular Chuck.
"I couldn't believe when Mike told me that it was Mark Hamill was going to play the grandpa," Sara tells PEOPLE. "I get to be married to Luke Skywalker! It's the greatest thing."
Mia Sara's Return to Acting
Sara's return to acting was thanks to director Mike Flanagan, whom she met in a social setting. Flanagan, a huge fan of Sara's work, asked her if she wanted to work again, and Sara agreed.
"My whole family are huge Mike Flanagan fans," says Sara. "I said, 'Oh, I don't know.' He said, 'Well, what if I offered you something?' I said, 'Well, okay, if you offer me something, I'll do it,' "

Sara's experience working with Hamill was a highlight of the film. "We had so much fun together on set," she says. "We knew we had just this little short moment, but we really had fun trying to convey the loving relationship."
As for whether Sara will continue acting, she says, "If Mike needs me, I'll be there."
Mia Sara's Life Beyond Acting
Sara's life beyond acting is filled with love and creativity. She has written poetry, much of which is showcased on her website. She also enjoys reading crime fiction and cooking.
"I started when I was really young, and I met my husband, and I just felt like, 'I kind of need to get a life.' And I got a really, really good one," Sara says.
